Who We Are:

Big Bro Lil Bro is a non-profit 501c3 mentorship organization based in Upstate South Carolina, dedicated to supporting and empowering young men aged 10-19 who are navigating challenging life circumstances. Our mission is to provide these young men with positive role models, guidance, and opportunities that foster confidence, resilience, and growth. Through strong, supportive mentorship relationships, we aim to equip them with the tools they need to pursue meaningful goals and build brighter futures.

At Big Bro Lil Bro, we believe in the transformative power of mentorship. Our mentors "Big Bros" are dedicated men from our community who volunteer their time to serve as trusted friends, advisors, and advocates for their "Lil Bros." By pairing each Lil Bro with a mentor who understands their unique challenges, we create a space where young men feel seen, supported, and motivated to overcome obstacles and reach their potential.

Our programs go beyond traditional mentorship by focusing on life skills, education, and emotional support. We host regular group activities, workshops, and one-on-one sessions that encourage academic achievement, career readiness, and personal development. From learning financial literacy to exploring potential career paths, our Lil Bros are given the knowledge and encouragement to pursue a path that leads to success and fulfillment.

Big Bro Lil Bro is committed to making a lasting impact in the lives of young men in our community, empowering them to break cycles of adversity and discover their unique strengths. We are proud to be a safe and positive community where young men can grow, thrive, and become the leaders of tomorrow.

Values Statement:

At Big Bro Lil Bro, our work is grounded in a deep sense of responsibility to the young men and families we serve. We believe in their brilliance, potential, and worth—and our program is built to uplift, protect, and partner with them in meaningful ways. The following values guide our decisions, design, and delivery:

1. Do No Harm:
We hold ourselves to the highest ethical standard of “do no harm.” Every action, program element, and decision is rooted in care, safety, and integrity. We strive to build trust, protect mental and emotional well-being, and ensure that our support uplifts rather than imposes.

2. Inclusion and Belonging:
We are committed to inclusive practices that celebrate the diverse identities, backgrounds, and lived experiences of our youth. We intentionally create spaces where every young person feels seen, respected, and valued—because belonging is not optional, it's foundational.

3. Youth Voice and Agency:
We honor the voices of young people and support their agency in shaping their journeys. We listen deeply, encourage leadership, and co-create experiences that reflect their needs, aspirations, and wisdom.

4. Family and Community Partnership:
We recognize that young people do not grow alone. We honor the insight, struggles, and strengths of caregivers and the broader community. Their voices are essential to our mission, and their partnership is vital to every young person’s success.

5. Strengths-Based Approach:
We see our youth not through the lens of their challenges, but through the power of their strengths. Our programming affirms their resilience, talents, and potential, helping them build on what is strong—not just fix what is wrong.

6. Responsible Growth:
We are committed to operating within our capacity. We set clear indicators for program reach and do not exceed what we can ethically and effectively sustain. This ensures every youth receives the full attention and support they deserve.

7. Continuous Improvement:
We embrace a learning mindset. Through ongoing reflection, feedback, and adaptation, we strive to improve our impact and meet the evolving needs of those we serve. Growth is not just for our youth—it’s for us, too.
